Abstract:

A self-recording soil penetrometer has been developed; with this instrument, static penetration tests can be conducted accurately and rapidly. This penetrometer measures continuously with depth the static penetration resistance of a cone-shaped probe. The measured penetration resistance can be used as a basis for the design of end-bearing piles.
