Abstract: A brief history of current (1964) methods of applying monolayer-forming chemicals and of conditions influencing the development of aerial dispensing equipment is given. Descriptions are presented of equipment developed recently by Utah State University for dispensing evaporation retardants in liquid and powder form from aircraft. Applications using the newly developed equipment were made to several large lakes in Utah, Idaho, Wyoming, and New Mexico. Highlights of these aerial applications are examined. Observations and recommendations concerning equipment, procedure, and continuing research are also presented.
