Abstract: Haunched beams and beams with cover plates for negative moment can affect marked economy in continuous beams and frames. The increase in end moments caused by haunches or cover plates can be estimated quickly by the fixed point method of moment design, and the final analysis is shortened by this same method. A brief review of the fixed point method is given.
