Membrane Stresses in Laminated Anisotropic Shells

A membrane stress analysis for laminated anisotropic shells is presented. The shell structure is assumed to be composed of an arbitrary number of bonded layers, each with a different (constant) thickness, different orientation of elastic axes, and different anisotropic elastic properties. The method for analyzing shells of revolution is demonstrated by an example of the symmetrical loading and an example of the asymmetrical loading of a spherical shell. Equations for calculating the stresses in each layer are given.
