Analysis of Laterally Loaded Gridworks

It is shown that the deflection of a uniform rectangular gridwork loaded at its nodes is governed by a sixth order partial difference equation that requires three boundary conditions at each edge for its complete solution. Solutions are indicated for various types of boundary conditions. In particular, an analogy with classical plate theory is developed by deriving Navier type and Levy type solutions consisting of finite series involving double and single summations.
