The existence of similar velocity profile solutions of the two-dimensional, incompressible boundary layer equations in the (x, ψ) plane is investigated for both Newtonian and non-Newtonian fluids. For the purpose of illustration, the problem of laminar jet in the zone of established flow and the problem of laminar wake behind a symmetric body in a uniform stream are solved by this technique.
