Document Type: Journal Paper
The supersonic transport will be able to operate from existing airports with only minor modifications of the terminal facilities. Existing runway lengths and runway taxiway strengths are adequate for the SST. The noise levels are also within acceptable limits. The Lockheed variable angle nose configuration is shown to have distinct visibility benefits. The SST takeoff and landing performances will be equal to, and in some cases better than, those of the subsonic jet transports.
