Plastic Analysis of Orthotropic Circular Plates

Abstract: Limit analysis is used to determine the collapse loads and velocity fields of rigid-perfectly plastic, orthotropic circular plates. Anisotropy is described by a modified Tresca yield condition. Various boundary conditions are considered. The results indicate that the influence of the anisotropy varies greatly from case to case. Design charts are constructed and an example is presented for the design of a pressure vessel head.
