The stress distributions and stress concentration factors are presented for a square plate with a stress free circular central hole loaded with uniform normal stresses and zero shearing stress on the outer boundaries. Both symmetric and anti-symmetric loadings are considered for hole diameters varying from one-tenth to nine-tenths of the plate dimension. The results are compared with existing theories, and a thick ring analogy is demonstrated for large hole sizes.
