Special surveying tasks for pipeline installations include building site and cathodic protection site surveys as well as tieing the installations to the national horizontal control systems of the USC & GS. Site surveys comprise the assembly of data necessary for design and property acquisition. Precise location of installations, relative to each other and to the national survey networks, is possible through the use of state plane coordinate systems. This report is a continuation of the committee's progress report Pipeline Location: Special Surveys II.
