Symposium on Teaching of Materials: Structures and the Teaching of Materialsby Lawrence H. Van Vlack,
Serial Information: Journal of the Engineering Mechanics Division, 1962, Vol. 88, Issue 4, Pg. 89-96
Document Type: Journal Paper
Analogies are made between the teaching of structural design and the teaching of materials of engineering on the basis of (1) instructional procedures, (2) basic principles, (3) instructional examples, and (4) engineering requirements. General principles are developed for both structural design and materials. Simple examples are analyzed and complex situations are studied.
