Abstract: Principle of hydraulic equivalent is presented for study of critical flow in open channels; based on modification of equation of specific energy and introduction of equivalent coefficients, graphs were prepared which, developed originally in metric system and used for many years, will help in analysis of open channels; proposed graphical application is believed to be preferable to usual laborious calculations, particularly when large number of channel solutions are required.
