Abstract: Discussion of applicability of elastomeric bearings to bridges having steel girders; survey of literature and of data obtained from highway and research agencies on development and use of neoprene bearings; results of investigation to determine stresses produced in steel beams, to observe pad behavior, including slippage, and to determine effects of stiffeners in beams on stresses produced in steel.
