Abstract: Process of disintegration is explained; probable factors which cause disintegration in certain areas while in other areas, with seemingly same conditions, no disintegration occurs; more research is needed to determine all causes; protective measures in design; new acid resisting cements and aggregates; use of plastic sewers.
