Abstract:

Yugoslavia has 12 underground water power plants in operation and 3 under construction, 2 of which exceed 400 Mw; majority are constructed in limestone, which has been found satisfactory for such plants; plant chamber is generally near face of mountain to reduce length of access and galleries; table lists plants with number of turbines, plant capacity, height of head, and type of surrounding rock formations; plans and elevational drawings of plants are given.
