Abstract: Theoretical considerations presented show that hydraulically, recharge well is far more complex than water well in reverse; performance requirements, construction, operation, and maintenance of recharge wells; various purposes of recharge are replenishment of aquifer storage, replacement of exploited oil, or as fresh water barrier against sea water intrusion; aspects of recharge contamination and treatment by chlorination.
