Abstract:

Uruguay irrigates about 65,000 acres, mostly rice and sugar cane; study showed that irrigation can be increased by storage in small reservoirs on tributary streams by means of low earth dams; some areas will require flood control and drainage before intensive agriculture can be practiced.
