Abstract: Problem treated is generalization of practical problem dealing with shutdown of reactor by rapid draining of moderator or reflector liquid; study of development of velocity with time when valve at end of drain pipe is suddenly opened; effect of friction, pressurization, and length of drain pipe is examined.
