Simplification of Dimensional Analysisby C.C. Bowman,
Serial Information: Journal of the Engineering Mechanics Division, 1959, Vol. 85, Issue 1, Pg. 67-74
Document Type: Journal Paper
Considerable simplification results when following steps are used singly or in combination: (1) special arrangement of variables in determinant form; (2) selection of repeating variables to represent dynamic, kinematic and geometric variables; dimensional analysis provides partial solution without revealing inner phenomena; dimensionless coefficients used to obtain similarity between model and prototype; example given of analyzing drag on ship.
