Abstract: Design and construction of man-made oil-production island of sand, rock and precast concrete armor in Pacific Ocean offshore from California with causeway connecting it to shoreline; design included alternate economic studies, model tests in wave laboratory, and storm damage and wave runup studies with alternate armor types, materials, densities and slopes; use of special fathometers in control operations for underwater placement.
