Abstract: Precipitation falling over surface of Great Lakes is considerably less than precipitation falling on adjacent land areas; evaporation computed by water budget method is reduced in same amount as precipitation; annual amount of net evaporation from Lake Ontario computed by water budget and mass transfer methods is of order of 2.0 ft.
