Blast Phenomena From a Nuclear Burstby Anderson, Jr.,
Serial Information: Journal of the Structural Division, 1958, Vol. 84, Issue 7, Pg. 1-8
Document Type: Journal Paper
Discussion of air blast and ground shock free field phenomena associated with nuclear burst, in order to aid engineers in design of blast resistant structures; calculation of surface burst pressure, transient pressure, ambient atmospheric pressure, and dynamic pressure; distance of peak pressure is proportional to cube root of weapon yield; air blast phenomena can be observed to accuracy of plus or minus 25%.
Subject Headings: Dynamic pressure | Transient response | Blasting effects | Dynamic response | Ground motion | Drag (fluid dynamics) | Free surfaces
