Abstract: Eisenhower and Grass River Locks have filling and emptying systems that utilize longitudinal culverts, side ports and tainter type valves; vertical lift gate provided at entrance to upstream lock to close off flow in event of failure of miter gates; pool between two locks is regulated by culverts placed in lock walls; development of hydraulic design criteria and selection of pool levels.
