Abstract: The 28-year service record of Salt Spring Dam, in terms of settlement, leakage, face cracks and maintenance is presented. The troubles at Salt Springs are traced to specific construction weaknesses. The design, construction and performance of the two Lower Bear River Dams is presented and compared to Salt Springs Dam.
