Abstract: Toledo, Ohio intake has superstructure which extends above water level, from which intake well and ports may be maintained; Sandusky, Ohio and Plum Brook Ordnance Plant intakes are examples of submerged type; these intakes are located in deep water remote from shore; intake structures may also be located at or near shore line; discussion limited to cribs; design considerations and operating histories of several intakes.
