Mathematical analysis of attenuation process of solitary waves by viscous shear within laminar boundary layer between main potential flow under passing solitary wave and smooth horizontal channel bed; theoretical results are compared to experimental data of RUSSELL and A.T.IPPEN; kinetic energy minus potential energy is twice amount of kinetic energy of vertical motion.
