This paper deals with the manufacture and subsequent testing to 600 psi (4137 kPa) of 189-in. (4,800-mm) inside diamater prestressed concrete pipe with four layers of prestressing wire. Existing barrel design theory and a newly developed theory for determining joint ring stresses are evaluated and shown to correlate with test data.
