Abstract: An approximate solution was used in the investigation of the flow generated by unbiased local wall oscillations. It was shown that such oscillations can pump fluid and maintain constant head. The conditions under which the arrangement of piston and conduit can pump were determined. The average flow rate generated and the maximum head that this arrangement can sustain have been obtained.
