Abstract: Housing demand has a significant influence on demand for construction engineers. Present or future demand for housing in a standard metropolitan statistical area may be predicted on the basis of changes in population, disposable personal income, vacancy rate, replacement rate, and units built. Available data on these variables permit reasonable estimates of housing demand for use in governmental and corporate planning.
