Abstract: The results of a survey designed to determine the percentage of construction costs spent for social and environmental controls are presented. Questionnaires were sent to all contractors appearing on The ENR 400 Contractors Compilation in addition to all 476 organizations listed in The OCA Directory. The data indicate that 10.7% of the overall yearly construction cost of The ENR 400 contractors is allocated for social and environmental controls. The corresponding figure for The OCA Directory contractors is 11.9%.
