Abstract: In this paper, a method for design sensitivity analysis of a structure via substructuring is presented. The method can be used for reanalysis of structures or in a structural optimization procedure. The main idea of the method is to exploit substructuring in both structural analysis and the design sensitivity analysis. Certain adjoint relationships are used to develop the design sensitivity vectors. The method is applied to a moderate size truss problem.
