Document Type: Journal Paper

Abstract:

U.S. contract papers for major bridgework are generally somewhat partisan in nature, written with the Owner's immediate interest in mind and assigning every disagreeable risk to the Contractor, whether logical or not. A standard core document for the contracting of civil engineering construction is proposed as an essential step toward remedying this adverse situation.
