Abstract: A solution is developed for the discharge under a structure resting on N strata of equal thickness. The solution is an asymptotic approximation of the exact solution for large values of the structure length. However, because neglected terms are exponentially small it is accurate for a very wide range of conditions. Because successive strata can have equal permeability the solution can be applied to almost any combination of strata thicknesses and permeabilities.
