Abstract: In a constant parameter river, analytical solutions to transient three-dimensional diffusion problems are presented. Diffusions for both dye and heat are examined for continuous and instantaneous releases. An application of the solution to a dye data analysis is described. The results indicate the general agreement between the data and the theoretical prediction despite the many simplifying assumptions made to obtain the analytical solution.
