Abstract: Dynamic response of continuous structures due to ocean wave forces is investigated. The wave forces induced by vortex shedding are considered. The fluctuating wave velocity field is taken as a stationary Gaussian random process with mean zero. The modal time-domain approach is used for response calculations where the wave velocity field and generalized random forces are simulated on a digital computer. Numerical results are presented to show the significance of vortex shedding generated random forces on structural response.
