Abstract: Technical engineering societies must take a more active role in the professional advancement of their members. A recognition program for civil engineers is needed. A specific program is proposed whereby civil engineers triennially report their educational activities, work experience, and society activities to earn a Professional Advancement Recognition (PAR) Certificate.
