Using generalized functions, the frequency equation for free vibrations of a cantilever beam-column having rotational and translational springs at its support, and carrying concentrated masses, is established in matrix form and is evaluated numerically. The effect of rotatory inertia of the concentrated masses is also included. Moreover, a procedure for establishing the mode shapes is presented. Finally, the differential equation for the modal amplitudes of forced motion is established.
