Document Type: Journal Paper

In this study, relationships between hydraulic problems and various dimensionless groupings, and Reynolds number effect on the determination of swirl angle and the axial velocity distribution in the pump intake are investigated with two simple pits. Also, a quantitative method is attempted to determine the best configuration of one of the pumping pits.
