The technical note by Howe serves as a good example of the pitfalls associated with an inadequate analysis of aeration data. Howe presents experimental data from two unsteady aeration tests. These data are used to show that the reaeration coefficient varies inversely with temperature. This finding is counter to the accepted temperature dependence of K2. It is well recognized in the literature that oxygen transfer coefficients increase with increasing temperature, other factors remaining constant.
