Abstract: The determination of the ultimate capacity of reinforced concrete columns subjected to combined axial and uniaxial loads is well known, and the case of axial load and biaxial bending has been solved using acceptable approximate approaches. The method proposed in this paper is to provide a simple estimate of a preliminary steel area for use in a detailed biaxial analysis.
