A reasonable degree of structural efficiency can be achieved for Vierendeel truss systems comprised of rectangular hollow sections if chord and web members of unequal width are selected. However, the second writer indicated stiffness of the connecting chord.s flange plate. Fabrication costs or undesirable obtrusiveness may rule out this option.
