Abstract: The effects of permeable walls on Poiseuille flow are investigated. Due to the transfer of forward momentum across the permeable interface, a very thin boundary layer region is induced within the porous material adjacent to the interface. The boundary layer structure is found herein, and it depends strongly on the properties of the material in the boundary regions. The present theory agrees with available experiments very well. However, more controlled experimental data are still needed.
