Abstract: The present paper is concerned with deformations of elastic flat plates resting on bimodulus and no-tension foundations. The stress-strain relations of materials which display different static responses in tension and compression are often effectively approximated by two respective straight lines with different slopes in tension and compression, when their nonlinearity is slight.
