Abstract: The influence of modulus variations on propellant grain stress distribution deserves attention as the modulus variability generally leads to a significant structural improvement. Taking the propellant-grain of spherical shape into consideration, a general method is presented herein for the evaluation of stresses in an orthotropic nonhomogeneous hollow elastic sphere with different types of variations of its material constants, following the analysis of Wescott.
